HOW IT WORKS
The strongest area is above the sensor.
The sensor is angled to respond to deliberate movement above the bin while reducing accidental opening when someone simply passes nearby.
35 cm is not a full-radius guarantee.
Product specifications list 35 cm, approximately 13 inches, for movement directly above the sensor. It explicitly says edge detection may be shorter.
Placement can influence behavior.
Leave room for the lid to open and avoid placing shelves or hanging objects where they continually enter the sensing area.
STEP BY STEP
Check the sensing area
Confirm the sensor window is clean and unobstructed.
Stand in front of the bin without touching the lid.
Move a hand directly above the sensor, starting close to the top.
Repeat from gradually greater heights, up to approximately 35 cm.
Move toward the edge of the sensing area and expect the effective distance to become shorter.
SAFETY AND LIMITS
Stop before a small issue becomes a mechanical one.
- Do not advertise this as 360-degree sensing or guaranteed 35 cm detection in every direction.
- Keep the opening lid clear of walls, shelves, hands, and objects.
- This sensor range applies to T1 and T3 Slim-family sensor lids, not the open-top T Air Lite.
